The Waterbury Senior American Legion team has been able to hang around in Zone 5 this season.
After Sunday’s games, Post 1 sits 12-7 and in fourth place, but only a single game out of first place in the zone. Oakville (12-5) and Bethel (13-6) are tied for the top spot, with Naugatuck (13-7) a half-game behind them in third place.
Waterbury lost a tough one Sunday, 6-4 to Naugatuck at Municipal Stadium. Post 1 had won three straight games and five of their last six before Sunday’s defeat.
Waterbury has five zone games left in the regular season, beginning with Tuesday’s 7 p.m. contest at Shelton. After that, it’s Naugatuck, Washington, Oakville and Bethel to close out the regular season.
