TRI-STATE UPDATE: Blasius Chevrolet winners of seven straight

Blasius Chevrolet has loudly announced its presence near the top of the Connecticut Tri-State Baseball League.

Blasius has won seven straight games, including a 16-4 romp over the Bethlehem Plowboys on Tuesday, according to the league website. The win streak has Blasius in third place at 10-3, a half-game behind second place Terryville (11-3) and one game behind first place Tri-Town (11-2).

On Sunday, Blasius took an 8-3 win over the Winsted Whalers behind the pitching of David Sacco and Austen Green and a trio of strong hitters. Steve Carosella and Colby Linnell each had three hits and two runs scored, and Justin McCulloch drove in three runs. Sacco threw the first seven innings, then Green finished the last two.

Blasius also posted wins over Amenia (6-0 on July 1), Bethlehem (8-1 on June 24), Wolcott (1-0 on June 21), Torrington (10-1 on June 20) and East Mountain (13-12 on June 16).

Blasius hosts the Burlington Hunters today at 5:45 p.m. at Hotchkiss Field in Prospect.

The Terryville Black Sox ripped the Litchfield Cowboys 9-2 on Wednesday, thanks to an eight-run first inning. Tony Patane, Kyle Tehan, Kyle Skidmore and Matt Radke picked up RBI while Kody Kerski threw three innings of one-hit ball.

The Bristol Greeners improved to 9-5 with a 2-1 win over the Torrington Rebels at Bristol Central High School on Wednesday. Bristol got a great start from Ben Mazzone, who gave up one run on three hits and struck out seven over six innings. Mazzone got the win after he gave the Greeners a 2-1 lead in the sixth on a two-run single. Brad Burney struck out the side in the seventh for the save.

The Naugatuck Dogs are tied for fourth place at 9-3 after a 13-1 rout of East Mountain on Sunday. Macky Cianciolo erupted for four hits, including two home runs, and seven RBI. Ryan Plourde, Kyle Murphy and Devin Murphy had three hits apiece for Naugatuck.

The Wolcott Scrappers blew up for a seven-run third inning in an 8-1 win over Burlington on Sunday. Justin Koutros struck out seven and pitched a complete game for Wolcott, which is sixth in the standings at 9-4, but just two games out of first place. Mike Vaccarelli and Matt Warren both had two hits and two RBI in the in the seven-run third. Angel Torres had two RBI and Tyler Smith singled, doubled and drove in a run.
