Anthony Ireland to take next step in pro hoop career in Lithuania

Ireland (Trefl Sopot, Poland)

Anthony Ireland is headed further to the north and east on the world map for his next professional basketball adventure.
The former Crosby and Loyola Marymount star signed with Utenos Juventus, a professional squad in Lithuania, according to an announcement from the team. The signing was reported by media websites Eurobasket and Sportando. Ireland averaged 17.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game with Trefl Sopot in Poland this past season.
Utenos Juventus plays in the Triobet Baltic Basketball League. Home games are played in Utena, Lithuania, about an hour and 20 minutes north of the capital of Vilnius.
Lithuania borders Poland on its northeastern side between Kalininigrad (Russia) and Belarus. Ireland will be switching not only countries, but time zones as well. Ireland will now play in a time zone that is seven hours ahead of our Eastern Standard Time, as opposed to six hours when he was in Poland.
