WOLCOTT’S SPRING ROUNDUP #7: Eagles claim fourth straight NVL tennis title

Raheel Chowdhury, right, and Mike Perreault, serving, clinched Wolcott’s fourth straight NVL title with a win in No. 3 doubles.

It proved to be the toughest matchup of the season, but Wolcott boys tennis secured a fourth straight NVL championship Friday.
The Eagles swept doubles and claimed a 6-3 victory over a tough Torrington squad in a battle of the NVL’s top teams at Woodland Regional High School. The No. 3 team of Raheel Chowdhury and Mike Perreault won the championship-clinching match. The other doubles winners were Matt Spina/Matt Mastropietro at No. 1 and Alex Hale/Jackson Yost at No. 2.
Wolcott’s seniors Spina, Mastropietro, Chowdhury and Perreault depart NVL team play with four straight championships and 77 consecutive victories. Next up is NVL individual competition this week.
