Nicol was dynamic as a passer and runner for the Eagles in his high school career, and both traits could come into play in his senior season at Western Connecticut State University.

WCSU graduated star quarterback Will Arndt of Newtown, and while Nicol won’t be under center, his throwing ability could be utilized by the Colonials. Last year, he completed 8-of-11 passes for 84 yards.
Nicol’s running ability is already well-known. The talented running back put up 1,319 yards and 14 touchdowns on 268 attempts, all team-highs. Nicol had just one fumble all of last season (10 games).
And oh yeah, Nicol was the team’s punter last season (40 punts, 34.9 yards/punt average).
Nicol was optimistic about the team when asked about it in an article for the Danbury News-Times, written by Richard Gregory (you can see photos of Nicol in action at camp above that article).

“We’ve got a lot of young guys here to compete, which is awesome. They’re pushing the older guys to work harder, and the older guys stepping up and coaching the younger guys. It’s just overall a great atmosphere here.”

Nicol will be called upon to do some heavy lifting this season for WCSU, but as always, he’ll be up to the challenge.
