The Watertown Blaze have a chance to win the AABC Stan Musial World Series just down the road today in Waterbury.
There is a chance of thunderstorms, but if the games get played and Watertown wins twice, it will claim a World Series title. The Blaze swept two games yesterday to make today’s scenario possible.
The Connecticut Tri-State Baseball League’s top team and Stan Musial state champion faces the Bourne Mariners of Massachusetts at 1 p.m.
A win would put the Blaze in a 4 p.m. game against the winner of the Nassau Yankees (Long Island) and Albany Athletics, who play at 1 p.m. at Municipal.
If Watertown loses, it would be the team’s first defeat and a bye would be drawn. With three teams left, one gets a bye to Sunday’s 10 a.m. championship game while the other two teams would play today at 4 p.m. to decide the other finalist.
Of course, Watertown could make the three-year scenario moot with two wins today. Or, Mother Nature could throw everything into flux.
We’ll just have to wait and see.
