Wolcott boys tennis cruises past Kennedy in NVL quarterfinal

The top-seeded Wolcott boys tennis team began their run toward a third straight NVL Tournament title with a 9-0 quarterfinal sweep of No. 8 Kennedy on Monday afternoon at Wolcott High School.

Wolcott cruised to a 9-0 win over Kennedy in a NVL Tournament quarterfinal matchup on Monday.

 Wolcott dropped just eight games on the way to victory. Matt Spina defeated Rilind Racaj

8-1 in No. 1 singles. Matt Mastropietro claimed a 8-0 win over Florjan Bablusha at No. 2 singles. In No. 3 singles, Jay Caggiano knocked off Camilo Barrera 8-1. At No. 4 singles, Alex Hale shut out Frenkli Rusi 8-0. Ryan Collins won 8-1 over Klajdi Sosoli at No. 5 singles. At No. 6 singles, Jackson Yost won 8-0 over Jordan Crosby-Williams.
Wolcott also made quick work of its doubles matches against Kennedy. Hale and Jackson beat Racaj and Bablusha 8-2. Mike Perrault and Raheel Chowdhury won No. 2 doubles 8-3 over Barrera and Rusi. At No. 3 doubles, Ryan Watts and Qasim Gondal defeated Edgar Yepez and Joni Pasholi 8-0.
Wolcott will host No. 4 Naugatuck in the semifinals.
