Montana junior guard Walter Wright, a former standout for Wilby, was named Big Sky Conference Co-Player of the Week.
Wright earned the honor, along with Weber State’s Joel Bolomboy, according to a release from the conference. Wright nearly had a double-double Thursday against Portland State, then pulled off the feat on Saturday over Sacramento State. The Grizzlies won both games, and along with Weber State are one of two teams with an unblemished conference record in the Big Sky. Montana is the top team at 4-0 while Weber is right behind them at 3-0.
Here’s how Wright’s week went:
Thursday, 79-66 win over Portland State: 22 points (8-of-13 FG, 3-of-4 3-pt FG), 9 assists
Saturday, 77-58 win over Sacramento State: 16 points (5-of-7 FG, 3-of-4 FT), Big Sky season-high 12 assists
During that two-game span, Wright turned the ball over a total of three times.
Montana has conference games on the road this week against Northern Colorado (Thursday) and North Dakota (Saturday). Stay tuned for more updates on Walter Wright and his exploits with Montana.
