Former Bristol Eastern girls soccer standout Samantha Woznicki can add Rookie of the Year in the Commonwealth Coast Conference to her resume.
Woznicki earned the honor while playing for Roger Williams University, ironically located in Bristol, R.I. Woznicki also earned third team All-CCC honors in her sophomore season. Woznicki helped control the midfield for a solid RWU team that has posted a 19-0-3 record this season, which includes its second straight CCC Tournament title.
Woznicki has started 20 of the 22 matches while playing at least some of all of them. She has three goals and two assists. Woznicki has logged the fourth-most minutes on the team this season.
Woznicki had the final goal for RWU in a 3-0 win over Gordon College in the championship match.
RWU will learn the name of its first opponent in the NCAA Tournament on Monday.
At Bristol Eastern, Woznicki was a two-time All-CCC South performer (2012, 2013). She is planning to major in Elementary Education, according to her team bio.
