St. Paul Catholic’s athletics program has been chosen as one of 20 Michaels Achievement Cup Exemplary Programs in the state, according to a press release from the CIAC.
The Falcons are recognized for their overall achievements as an athletic program during the 2014-2015 school year. A school is selected based upon these criteria: sportsmanship, participation, athletic scholarship, athletic personnel, equity, chemical free initiatives and athletic achievement.
“These schools deserve every bit of recognition they get for their commitment to interscholastic athletics and for maintaining complete, well-rounded, education-based athletics programs,” CAS-CIAC Executive Director Karissa Niehoff said in the press release. “A lot is expected and required of high school athletics programs in this era so it’s important to honor schools that strive to excel and can serve as a model of success.”
Thirty-six schools qualify for consideration, then the final 20 are chosen by the Michaels Achievement Cup Committee. One of those schools is St. Paul, and it will be honored with the 19 at the CIAC Sportsmanship Conference on Nov. 19 at the AquaTurf in Southington.
