Bonicki (Clark athletics) |
Former Chase Collegiate standout Kyle Bonicki had a huge game for the Nashua Silver Knights on Wednesday.
All the Clark University star did was go 4-for-4 with a home run, double, four RBI and three runs scored in a game against the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks. Bonicki did what he could to deliver a win for Nashua, which lost 11-10 to Martha’s Vineyard. For his efforts, he was named OnDeck Sports Player of the Night for the Futures Collegiate Baseball League of New England.
Bonicki’s homer was his fourth, the double his 10th, and the four RBI brought him up to 23. He also walked twice and is hitting .347 for the season.
Bonicki singled and scored in the top of the second inning. He singled again in the fourth inning, then doubled home a run in the fifth. Bonicki walked and scored in the seventh, but he saved his biggest at bat for the eighth inning.
With two on and two out, Bonicki blasted a three-run home run to tie a wild game at 10-10.
In the 10th inning, Bonicki drew his second walk of the game.
Since the game was tied after 10 innings, it was decided by a home run derby, which Martha’s Vineyard won.
In 44 games, Bonicki has 58 hits, 10 doubles, four home runs, 23 RBI and 37 runs scored. He has two sacrifice hits and five stolen bases in six attempts.
Nashua is in fifth place in the FCBL playoff standings. The top six teams in the league make the postseason. The Silver Knights are scheduled to play five games in the final four days of the season, including Sunday.
