Kerski, Duffy among leaders in CTL pitching

The Connecticut Twilight League released its regular season stat leaders among pitchers, and there were plenty of locals represented.

The Wolcott-Terryville Scrappers had both Kody Kerski and Derek Duffy among the top arms in multiple categories. Kerski led the league with a miniscule 0.28 ERA. He was also tops or tied for the top spot in walks and hits per inning or WHIP (0.55), saves (3), batting average against (.135) and strikeout percentage (48.9). He finished second in strikeouts per game (12.55), tied for fifth in wins (4) and tied for seventh in appearances (9). Some of Kerski’s numbers are, simply put, insane, especially given that he pitched 25⅓ innings in the regular season.

Duffy didn’t lead any categories, but he was third in innings pitched (42⅔ innings), fourth in strikeouts (53), tied for eighth in wins (3), eighth in WHIP (1.20), ninth in strikeouts per game (8.79) and ninth in strikeout percentage (28.6). Duffy finished with a 2.95 ERA after a slow start to the season.

The CTL pitching leaders’ lists also includes Bristol Shock lefty Chris McGrath, and that’s absolutely no surprise. He was third in appearances (11), fourth in batting average against (.168), fifth in innings pitched (38 ⅔), tied for fifth in wins (4), sixth in WHIP (1.14), seventh in strikeouts (46) and tied for eighth in ERA (2.17).

Mark Creamer was a solid pitcher for the Shock, posting a 2.59 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 27 regular season innings. Jared Gallagher saved two games while Tommy Stagis and Robert Taylor saved a game apiece.
