Locals hardballers among the leaders in adult summer leagues

There are plenty of locals who made an impact during the regular season in the Greater Hartford Twilight Baseball League and Connecticut Twilight League.

First of all, you’ll find former Bristol Central right-hander Kenny Knox among the league leaders in different categories in both leagues. Knox ranked second in the GHTBL in innings (55) and strikeouts (68), and he was third in complete games (4). Knox unfortunately ranked first in hit batsmen (9) and second in walks (29) for the Bristol Greeners, who struggled to a 5-19 record in the regular season. Knox did tie for the league lead in starts with nine, and he only gave up a single home run over 55 innings on his way to a 3.82 ERA. In the CTL, Knox was fifth in wins with three.

AJ Lorenzetti of the Greeners tied for fourth in hits with 23 while teammate Trevor Nohilly ranked fifth in stolen bases with seven. Lorenzetti led the Greeners in both batting average (.333) and RBI (11). Lorenzetti also pitched for the Greeners and was 1-1 with one save and a 2.17 ERA over 16.1 innings.

Over in the CTL, former Crosby star right-hander and minor leaguer Kody Kerski led the way in wins (7) and strikeouts (65) for the first place Terryville Black Sox. Kerski was second in both ERA (0.95) and innings pitched (44). Former Bristol Eastern left-hander Jacobi Bouchard was third in innings pitched (40.1) and fifth in strikeouts (41) for the Southington Aftershock. Bristol Knights veteran left-hander Chris McGrath wound up fourth innings pitched at 31.2. Bristol struggled to a 3-15 record.

Both leagues are in their playoffs. In the CTL, top-seeded Terryville has made its way to the winner’s bracket final against the two-time defending champion Rocky Hill Rockies next Monday at 6 p.m. at Muzzy Field. After an opening loss to the fifth-seeded New Britain Rock Cats, fourth-seeded Southington has defeated ninth-seeded Bristol and New Britain to reach the elimination bracket semifinal. The Aftershock play the seventh-seeded Wethersfield Dodgers next Monday at 8 p.m., also at Muzzy.
