The St. Paul girls lacrosse team got on a roll late in the season, and that has continued into the postseason.
Beginning with a tight 12-11 home victory over Bristol Eastern on May 13, the Falcons won six straight games to end the regular season. The other five wins came against NW Catholic (11-9, May 14), Housatonic (14-6, May 17), Watertown (15-10, May 18), Wolcott (13-4, May 19) and Notre Dame-Fairfield (17-6, May 23).
St. Paul’s seventh straight victory was of the spectacular variety, 9-8 in double overtime over Watertown in the Western Connecticut Lacrosse Conference championship at McPhee Field on May 26. Emily Walker, who recently hit the 100-career goal mark as a sophomore, was named most outstanding player and scored the game-winning goal.
St. Paul is the No. 12 seed in the Class S state tournament and will play at No. 5 Granby Memorial on Tuesday at 5:15 p.m. in a first round game.
