The Crosby boys basketball team has won eight straight games to improve to 12-2 on the season.
The Bulldogs have a nasty one-two punch of senior Jonathan Rivera and junior Jason Robinson. Rivera is averaging 26.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 3.2 steals per game while Robinson is averaging 15.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.3 steals per contest. Where Rivera and Robinson go, Crosby goes.
The Bulldogs, however, have a solid supporting cast around Rivera and Robinson.
Seven Bulldogs average at least four points per game and five put up at least 3.1 rebounds per contest. Senior Chris Spears (8.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.1 steals), sophomore Khani Glenn (6.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.4 steals), junior Kahliff Willard (4.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.1 steals), sophomore Brandon Beamon (4.9 points, 4.2 rebounds) and sophomore Daniel Melendez (4.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.1 steals) have been filling up the stat sheets. There have also been good contributions from juniors Manny Escobales (4.4 points) and Andre Arrington (4.0 points, 1.1 steals).
Crosby’s wins during its streak have come against Wilby, Derby, Amistad, Woodland, WCA, St. Paul, Ansonia and Torrington. The Bulldogs are scheduled to host Wilby tonight at 7 o’clock.
