Nicol, Torres will play in Rawlings showcase game at CCSU

Two local players will take part in Wednesday’s Rawlings Futures Showcase at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain.
At 9:30 a.m., Jeff Nicol of Wolcott and Jacob Torres of Waterbury will suit up for Team Red in the first game. Nicol’s positions are listed as catcher and pitcher. Torres is listed as shortstop and outfielder. Nicols and Torres are part of a team made up of Zone 1 and 5 players.
Both games will be played at Balf-Savin Field. College coaches and even scouts from professional baseball are usually present at the showcase. The showcase displays players from the Class of 2018, along with “Super Sophomores.”
