Going into Friday night’s game at DeBarber Field, Seymour football was undefeated.
The thought was the Wildcats would stay there up to their showdown with Ansonia at the end of the month.
The Wolcott Eagles had other ideas.
Wolcott flew out to a 27-7 halftime lead, then held on for a stunning 33-30 road victory over Seymour. The Eagles were able to convert a key fourth down and run out the rest of the clock.
Wolcott is 4-1 and has won four straight games. The Eagles play at Woodland Regional next Friday at 6:30 p.m.
