Southern Connecticut State senior guard Mike Mallory has been named a preseason All-American by The Sporting News.
Mallory, a former standout at Holy Cross High School, was picked for the second team by The Sporting News, according to a story posted on the school’s website.
As the story stated, this is the second straight season that The Sporting News has chosen Mallory for preseason accolades. Mallory was an honorable mention choice last year.
As a junior, Mallory was one of the leaders of a successful SCSU squad. Mallory led the team at 23 points per game, including a 47-point eruption against Bentley. He made 95 three-pointers and averaged 4.5 assists per contest.
