Former Holy Cross High School football player Trai Weaver is proving to be quite the asset for Anna Maria College this season.
Weaver (Anna Maria athletics) |
Weaver, a junior, has 12 catches for 104 yards as a receiver. He has also run the ball 10 times for 23 yards.
Weaver picked up his first touchdown of the season in a 28-7 loss to Norwich University in an Eastern Collegiate Football Conference game over the weekend. Weaver didn’t pick up the score with a catch or by running.
Weaver threw for the touchdown, on a fake field goal no less. Weaver, who is the Anna Maria holder, took the snap, stood up, and threw a pass to a wide open Joseph D’Onofrio for a 33-yard touchdown.
Anna Maria has struggled this year, but Weaver and D’Onofrio have a chance to earn ECFC Play of the Week honors for their touchdown connection. To vote on Twitter, retweet the play with the hashtag #AMCATS. Anna Maria’s Twitter account is @goAMCATS. The ECFC’s account is @d3ECFC.
Voting goes until tomorrow morning. No definite time was listed on the site, but a vote in the previous week went until 9 a.m. Go vote for Trai now!
